The historic coastal town of Aberystwyth nestled on the Cardigan Bay coast is a mere 40-minute drive from the park and remains a popular destination all year round. The town’s seafront offers two pebble beaches, a harbour, marina, a Pier and the ruins of a castle. There are plenty of other award- winning beaches nearby located on this unspoilt coastline, offering water sport activities, coastal walks and wildlife. Some visitors may even be lucky enough to spot a few dolphins swimming in the bay.

Located on the border of Wales Kington Golf Club was founded back in 1925 and offers an 18-hole course. Located at 1284 ft at its highest point, the course offers beautiful views across The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons, The Malvern Hills and The Shropshire and Clee Hills. This friendly club welcomes golfers of all ages and abilities and is located just down the road from Presteigne Holiday Park.
A wonderful opportunity to visit a major UK working observatory – situated upon a remote hilltop surrounded by the Welsh Marches, the dark skyline provides the ideal location for astronomy. The Spaceguard Centre provides the UK’s main source of information about near earth objects such as asteroids and comets.
Presteigne Holiday Park’s location is within easy reach of a number of scenic hill walks including the Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountains, The Cambrian Mountains and The Shropshire Hills.
This farm offers a wonderful day out for families – the owl house allows visitors to view the owls and owlets in an intimate setting and the farm park offers a delightful collection of small breed animals such as Pigmy goats, miniature Shetland ponies, chipmunks, tortoises and more – making this an especially popular outing for young children, full details can be found on the Small Breeds Farm Park & Owl Centre website.
A Grade II listed museum offering a host of original artefacts and information on the Victorian legal system – visitors are able to wander through the judge’s lodgings, the courtroom and even into the gloomy cells, offering a glimpse into the contrasting lives of the judges and the prisoners during the 19th Century. The Judge’s Lodgings museum caters well for children, with a number of interactive activities such as pumping water in the kitchen, sitting in the judge’s chair or studying books, providing its visitors with the opportunity of experiencing life in a Victorian times.
Located near Presteigne Holiday Park is the beautiful area of the Elan Valley Estate. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural scenery, visit the dams, reservoirs and 73-mile aqueduct – an impressive Victorian engineering project which enabled water to flow all the way to Birmingham.
